Houseplant Dreams

Woah, its been awhile. School is busy so blogging is quite difficult. I had a Plant Pathology Test this morning. So after spending the entire weekend studying, taking a little break Saturday night to go to a masquerade party, I'm taking tonight off as well, before I begin studying for my 3 exams that I have next week. Ughh. It never ends.

A friend brought over all of her house plants today, so now our house is pretty and green. I love it. Makes me want to go out and get a bunch, set up a little round table in a corner and have my own little indoor garden. I will be doing this in the near future. Be looking for it.
A little off garden topic, I made some Raspberry Cheesecake Cupcakes this afternoon. They look so pretty I almost don't want to eat them.

Childhood Memories

Yep, it's official. School has taken over my life, which explains the lack of blogging lately. Even though I am in college, and should be growing up, I don't particularly feel the need to just yet. So while being distracted by my new love, Pinterest, I came across some fun ideas to do in the garden. For this reason only, I can not wait to grow up, have a garden of my own, then bring back childhood memories. Like building a cottage for Snow White to stumble upon, have a rabbit hole for Alice to fall in, and then maybe provide a flower meadow deep in the woods for a vampire to escape to on sunny days. It will happen.

Piles of Vellum

Last year, I took a couple of Landscape Architecture classes. I had to buy lots of vellum for all of the projects we had to do. So as a result I have lots left, in all different sizes. I won't be taking anymore L.A. classes, so what am I to do with all of it. I don't just want to throw it away, because it is pretty pricey. I found this on Pinterest and would love to do something like it. What else could I do though? Any suggestions?

Wishing for Fall

I am ready for fall. I am tired of this 90 degree weather. Bring on the cold and the rain. I love how dark the sky always looks, the changing leaves and the wind. It is my favorite season and I am ready for it right now.

I am growing pumpkins here in Pullman. I hope I get a couple, because I really want to do this to them. Love love love lace.
 And all that glitters.

I miss the fog at home that Pullman doesn't get.

This pretty much sums it up.

Help Wanted

The first week of school is almost over. I have 3 classes separating me from the weekend. Let's hope it goes by quick.

Now on to more important matters. My aunt has something growing in her garden and she doesn't know what it is. So I am hoping one of you smart gardeners knows the answer!

Excited...?

I survived the first day of classes. Only to do it all over again tomorrow. Today I had Plant Pathology, all about diseases, Chemistry, Botany, and Entomology, all about bugs. I can't believe I am going to say this, because I know it will not be true in a couple weeks, but I am excited to start the homework and get back in the swing of things again. For some reason it is always fun to think about school and all that it offers and everything you have to do. The hectic schedules and desperately trying to get that paper that was assigned to you months ago, and just started working on last week, done. Every school year, you always tell yourself, 'I'm going to read every week, and get everything done in a timely fashion.' That only holds true for the first 2 weeks, if that. I'm ready to do this again...

So here's to a new school year!

Sunday Jitters

It's Sunday. Tomorrow is Monday. Tomorrow is also the first day of school. So today is a lazy day, as if I am anticipating the hectic day that is ahead of me. But lets face it, tomorrow won't be bad at all. Tomorrow is the first day of school, aka "Syllabus Day". One of the easiest day of the year. We spend the class periods going over the syllabus, and then maybe start taking notes. What I do love about today is that I finally get to get my bag together, with the brand new notebooks and pens that are begging to be used. I also have to pick out my first day of school outfit. But since moving over here, I feel like I have lost half of my closet. So naturally, I have nothing to wear...

While I am going through my closet for the 1000th time, you can enjoy these photos of the zinnia's my grandpa grew from seed.

Like My Daddy Does

Earlier I posted about my Grandma's and Grandpa's gardens in Omak. You can find them here and here. This post will be about my dad's garden here in Snohomish! So every time I come home, he always has to give me a "tour" of what he has done with the place as soon as I walk in the door. But I must admit that the yard does look pretty good. It always makes me wonder if the yard has always looked liked this, and I am just now noticing it because of my interest in gardening now. Or if this is a new occurrence. They tell me that it always looked like this... so where was I while this was happening?

These are his pride and joys this summer... Huge tomato plants.

His little rose garden

Grape vines that sometimes take over our house

His newest project that is begging for some green to be spilling over those stones
